All Christian churches share a common basis for their mission.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus gave these instructions to His
followers: |
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you."
|
|
 |
Yet while the basis for mission is the same, the outworking of
that mission can be very unique indeed. Every church has different
strengths, abilities, and opportunities. In forming our mission
statement, we asked, "How is Living Word uniquely gifted and positioned?"
We also looked around us at the spiritual condition of the Asian
American community in Dallas. While there are a precious few English
Ministries attached to Asian churches, there are so many thousands
of English-speaking Asians untouched by their outreach
|
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to share the Good
News of God's love and forgiveness with the world. We are also
commanded to teach believers what it means to know and follow
Him. |
As Asian Americans living in Dallas, Texas, we have unique perspective
and incredible opportunity. We tried to capture our mission in
a simple statement that would reflect both aspects:
The mission of Living Word Bible Fellowship of Dallas is
to reach out to the Asian American community and beyond;
calling all peoples to new life in Jesus Christ,
and equipping them to become fully devoted followers of Him.

From this we simplified our mission into one easily remembered
phrase that captures the reason we are here...
